We’re got brand new Oliver Peoples eyewear in stock!

In the late 1980s, Ken Schwartz and Larry Leight picked up a haul of vintage American-made eyewear formerly owned by Mr. Oliver Peoples.  These heritage frames became the inspiration behind one of the most iconic eyewear brands in the world.

In looking to the past, Schwartz and Leight were already ahead of their time.  While the rest of the 80s succumbed to futuristic, geometric glasses in bold colours, the pioneering pair focused on designing classic frames in natural, tortoiseshell hues. Their radically minimalist approach immediately took off with their discerning West Coast clientele and Oliver Peoples glasses began appearing on the faces of A-list actors, entrepreneurs and the infamous American Psycho’s Patrick Bateman. It wasn’t long before the brand became a global hit.

Today Oliver Peoples remains true to its heritage-inspired, minimalist aesthetic and unrivalled cultural pedigree, with Californian designers drawing inspiration from films, fashion, art and music. At Infocus Opticians in Marylebone, London we’re proud to stock one of the most extensive ranges of Oliver Peoples in London.

The new collection in stock is inspired by Oliver People’s latest campaign: Who is Oliver? The answer is, Oliver is all of us. We love their characteristically timeless glasses, revolving around neutral, tortoiseshell colourways and intellectual round shapes. Wireframe spectacles are also a standout trend this season, paying homage to the retro styles of the 70s. Subtle yet distinctive features mark out Oliver Peoples sunglasses and glasses, from the discreet logo plaque at the temple tips to the twin-circle detailing on the frame edge.

Oliver Peoples’ accolades don’t stop with superior style. The brand is renowned for investing in world-class materials and manufacturing processes to ensure its frames are engineered to last.

Each collection is designed in Los Angeles and manufactured by master craftspeople in Italy and Japan using state-of-the-art machinery and handcrafted artisan processes. Every pair of frames takes months to finesse, with weeks of perfecting drawings and prototyping before the final designs are sent off to the workshops.

Oliver Peoples’ iconic tortoiseshell acetates are handcrafted to produce stunning custom hues, and parts are tumbled with wood, paste and oil for four days to smooth the raw material and produce a glossy finish. Matte versions go through a final process of abrasion, before components are hand assembled, polished and measured for absolute precision to ensure strict quality standards.

Oliver Peoples sunglasses are also engineered to give your eyes ultimate protection from the sun’s UV rays, with superior polarised and photochromic mineral glasses lenses fused with rare earth elements to filter sunlight and sharpen contrasts and colour definition.

To give you a taste of the latest collection we’ve pulled out a few of our favourite frames –
